Licensing and works approvals

Under the Environmental Protection Act 1986, certain premises require a works approval before they are established and a licence to operate.  These are usually premises where activities that pose a significant risk to the environment are undertaken, such as oil refineries, brickworks and other major industrial facilities.  There are a number of opportunities to appeal against decisions, recommendations and orders issued in respect to works approvals and licensing.  These are as follows:
